Trench Rescue Operations I (TRRE)  FSC323 

Lead Instructor – A.J. Gilgallon 

Hours 16

Gear: Helmet with chin strap, eye protection, (face shield not acceptable), Work clothing or coveralls, Leather gloves, Work shoes/boots, Computer with audio/video capability and internet.

Prerequisites: Age 18 and up

Recommended: Confined Space Rescue (CSR) and Rope Rescue I

This course will introduce the student to the knowledge and skills necessary to perform complex rescue operations in collapsed trench excavations safely and effectively. Course work will include practical drills and demonstration in simulated trench excavations.

The first class will be held September 18, 2021, at SCESTC classroom # 3, Class time is 0800 to 1600. Other Class Dates: September 19, 2021.

There is no fee for members of Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Association. This SBS Course is closed to non-member companies of the Association.

Students must pre-register (NO WALK INS) Accepted.

The SCESTC NO SHOW Policy will be enforced. The required minimum class size is 15 students, Max 24 Students. The SCESTC curriculum staff will contact the adjunct instructors and students ten days before the start of the course, if the required number of students has not been met.

Structural Burn Session (SBS) FSC 600 

Lead Instructor – Pete Damiter 

Hours 16 – Lecture-4.0hrs / Lab-12.0hrs

Gear: TOG, SCBA

Prerequisites: EBM, Interior FF, BBFA or FF-1 or equivalent – Students must have a copy of their certificate that meets the prerequisite for the first class to be given to the Instructor.

Note: Mahanoy City Requested this Burn for their Department, if they do not have 30 students other County FD members that are registered will be put into the class.

This course will provide the student with a review and application of the techniques used in safe fire fighting practices in an actual structural fire environment. Emphasis is placed on safety for both interior and exterior operations.

The first class will be held September 21, at SCESTC classroom # 3, Class time is 1800 to 2200. Other Class Dates: 09/23 (1800 to 2200), Live Burn 09/25 (0800 to 1600).

There is no fee for members of Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Association. This SBS Course is closed to non-member companies of the Association.

Students must pre-register (NO WALK INS) Accepted.

Fire Dynamics: Fundamentals (FDF) FSC – 800

Course Goal: Upon completion of the course, the student shall understand the newly revised evidence based research related to the study of fire dynamics; how fires start, spread and develop in the modern fire environment.

Prerequisites: Exterior Firefighter (ELEF)

Course Description: The course provides the firefighter the basic knowledge to reinforce the evidence based research conducted by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and other fire service organizations. This course introduces new terminology related to fire dynamics, legacy verse modern fuel loads, new construction techniques, flow paths, door control, and ventilation that all impact fire ground operations.

The class will be held on September 23, 2021 at South Ward Fire Company, Tamaqua. Class start time is 1830 to 2130.

There is no fee for members of Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Association, non-member companies the cost is $37.50 per student; the Non-member Fire Companies will be invoiced for the class. The check is made payable to Schuylkill County Volunteer’s Firefighters Association.

Students must pre-register (NO WALKINS ACCEPTED).

Fire Dynamics: Strategy & Tactics (FDST) FSC-801

Course Goal: Upon completion of this course, the student shall understand how strategy and tactics can be implemented using the newly revised evidence based research for fire ground operations.

Course Description: This course provides the firefighter the basic knowledge of strategy and tactics and how to apply the evidence based fire research conducted by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and other fire service organizations to fire ground operations. This course introduces new terminology related to fire dynamics, ventilation, flow paths, door control, transitional fire attack, basement fires, and new concepts for developing strategy and tactics.

The class will be held on September 30, 2021 at South Ward Fire Company, Tamaqua. Class time is 1830 to 2130.

Hazardous Materials Ops Annual Refresher Training FSC 737

Prerequisites: Haz-Mat Operations Level

This course will allow a hazardous material emergency responder at the First Responder Operations Level to receive refresher training as required annually by federal regulation.

The Class will be held at Rangers Hose Co. 6 E. Odgen Street, Girardville on October 3, 2021 08:00-14:00

Description: This course will provide instruction in the basic skills of identifying hazardous material problems in a community. The student will learn to recognize the presence of hazardous materials and identify hazardous materials, as well as learn the associated hazard characteristics.

The class will be held  September 29, 2021 at the Tremont Fire Co. 21 Middlecreek Road, Tremont  1800 to 2200.

There is no fee for members of Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Association, non-member companies the cost is $36.00 per student; the Non-member Fire Companies will be invoiced for the class. The check is made payable to Schuylkill County Volunteer’s Firefighters Association.

Pump Operation I (PUOP)  FSC 420

Prerequisites: 18 years of age, IST

This course provides the fire fighter with an introduction to basic pump construction and theory as well as operating techniques. Emphasis is placed on getting water to the pump, getting water from the pump for hose streams, and prevention of common mistakes in pump operations.

The class will be held at SCESTC 125 Fireman’s Road Frackville, October 12 & 14, 2021 18:00-22:00 and October 16, 2021 08:00-16:00

Pump Operation II (PUOA)  FSC 421

Prerequisites: PUOP

This course is designed to instruct the student in advanced techniques of operating fire pumps. Topics covered include friction loss, relay pumping, master streams, and elevated master streams.

The class will be held at SCESTC 125 Fireman’s Road Frackville, October 26 & 28, 2021 18:00-22:00 and October 30, 2021 08:00-16:00
